Album of the Day: The Yankee Dollar
“The Yankee Dollar is no accident.”
Or so proclaims the liner notes of the lone album from exceedingly obscure west coast psychedelic band The Yankee Dollar. Don’t know much about the group beyond what’s found at allmusic.com … kind of a second-rate Jefferson Airplane knockoff, with lots of fuzz guitar and creepy psychedelic organ.
Release Date: 1968
Label: Dot
Paid: 99 cents at the Goodwill
Album of the Day: Wild in the Streets (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
“Max Frost Says 14 or Fight!”
Groove-tastic packaging hides an otherwise mediocre soundtrack from this classic ’60s teen exploitation flick. Save for “Shape of Things to Come” by Max Frost & the Troopers (not even a real band), most of the rest of the songs are forgettable.
Label: Tower
Paid: 99 cents at the Goodwill
Never seen this before … awesome beyond words!
